Heidi’s Story

After much coaxing by Merlin, my husband David agreed to go to Mexico in 2023 with NetMenders. He took our oldest son with him and they both came back so enthused over being able to help the Church in Mexico and also over spending time with NetMenders from all over the USA. David informed me that next year we were going as a family (all 9 of us). 

So our family was privileged to go with NetMenders at the beginning of Feb 2024 to serve churches in Mexico. It was a wonderful opportunity to see what another country is like and also to see what church means in another culture. One of the main reasons we wanted to go was to involve our children in hands-on missions. The NetMenders did an amazing job of including the children in anything they could possibly do. The children especially enjoyed helping with two festivals which were attended by about 300 Mexican children. David worked with many of the other men putting roofs on two churches along.

We were challenged by working alongside the other NetMenders. The time fellowshipping as a group as we worked and in the evenings was very special. They have such a heart to serve! It was an opportunity to show our children that, despite our differences, when we love Jesus we can come together to serve other Christians.

Merlin Schantz headed up the projects, the materials, the assignments, etc. He did a great job of getting people in place to serve. We were very blessed to see so many people from different states join together to serve pastors in Mexico. Praise God for His work in countries all around the world!
